Blacknose Sheep

The Valais Blacknose sheep boasts an extremely thick woolly coat that even covers its legs! This thick wool is essential as it lives in the Swiss mountains where cold winds often blow. One can't help but wonder if it'd share some of its warm wool so friends can make cozy scarves.

Although we can't really 'use' a Valais Blacknose sheep directly, if you're into wool production or just have an interest in these sheep: If you plan to keep them, make sure they have a sheltered area in cold weather to keep them warm. Provide them with plenty of fresh water and high - quality hay. For wool shearing, it's best to do it in the warmer months so they don't get cold. Always have a professional handle the shearing to avoid hurting the sheep. And remember, these sheep are social animals, so it's good to keep them in groups.
