Description

Imagine embarking on a thrilling journey to an uncharted island! After a long and arduous sea voyage, your ships finally reach the shores of this mysterious land. This is Catan (formerly known as The Settlers of Catan), a captivating board game suitable for players aged 10 and above, with 3 - 4 players in each game. The playtime ranges from 60 to 120 minutes. In Catan, players strive to become the dominant power on the island by constructing settlements, cities, and roads. Each turn, roll the dice to see what resources the island yields. Collect resources like wood, grain, brick, sheep, and stone in the form of cards to develop your civilization. The goal is to amass 10 victory points and claim victory. To set up the game, randomly arrange large hexagonal tiles in a honeycomb pattern. These tiles show various resources or a desert, surrounded by water tiles with some containing exchange ports. Place number disks on each resource tile, corresponding to the dice rolls (using two 6 - sided dice). Each player gets two settlements (like houses) and roads (sticks) to place on the intersections and borders of the resource tiles. You'll collect resource cards based on the adjacent hex tiles of your last - placed house. A robber pawn is placed on the desert tile. During a turn, you can play a development card, roll the dice, and collect resource cards (except when a 7 is rolled). Trade cards at ports, exchange resources with other players, and use your resources to make improvements. If a 7 is rolled, move the robber to a new hex tile and steal resource cards from players with adjacent structures. Points are earned by building settlements and cities, having the longest road, the largest army (from certain development cards), and collecting special development cards that award victory points. When you reach 10 points (some may be secret), declare your win!

How to Use: - First, set up the game by randomly placing the hexagonal tiles in a honeycomb shape and adding the water tiles and number disks as described. Each player places their settlements and roads on the appropriate spots. - During each turn, start by deciding if you want to play a development card. Then roll the dice. If the roll isn't a 7, players adjacent to the corresponding numbered tiles collect resource cards. If it's a 7, move the robber and steal cards from other players. - Use your resource cards to build settlements, cities, and roads, or trade them at ports or with other players. Note: - Make sure to keep track of your victory points. Some may be secret, so don't reveal them until you're ready to claim the win. - When moving the robber, follow the rules strictly to avoid disputes. Maintenance: - Keep the game components in a dry and clean place. If the cards get dirty, you can gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid bending or folding the cards and tiles to ensure they last longer.
