It has a boom, dipper, bucket, and a cab on a rotating platform called the 'house'. The 'house' sits on an undercarriage with tracks or wheels. It evolved from the steam shovel and is often wrongly named a power shovel.

Using this excavator model is quite simple. First, make sure the model is on a flat surface. You can rotate the 'house' to change the direction of the boom. Then, operate the dipper and bucket to mimic the actions of a real excavator. Keep in mind that there are small parts, so if you have kids around, make sure they are above 3 years old to avoid the choking hazard. When it comes to maintenance, gently clean the model with a soft cloth from time to time. Store it in a dry place to prevent any damage.
